OX2 and Tuulikolmio sign a cooperation agreement for the development of new wind power projects
Europe's leading onshore wind power provider, the Nordic OX2, and the Finnish wind power developer Tuulikolmio have signed a cooperation agreement for the development of new wind power projects in Finland. The agreement includes a significant number of wind power projects. The goal is to implement projects during this decade. The cooperation agreement now signed includes projects launched by Tuulikolmio in Central Finland, Lapland and Northern Ostrobothnia, among others. The permitting processes for the first projects will be launched this autumn. The wind triangle is responsible for leasing land for cooperation projects and…

The former peat bog is becoming a unique energy center in Central Ostrobothnia
A new energy center is planned for Toholammi in Central Ostrobothnia, which will combine solar power, wind power, a biogas plant and a hydrogen plant into a new unique entity. According to Lapin Voima Oy, the new production plant could be operational in a couple of years, if everything goes according to plan. The Toholammi hybrid project is said to be the future and is a good example of the system-level energy integration that is being pursued. Read more about the hybrid project in the article of the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation!

Wind triangle operating model and principles
Tuulikolmio always establishes a project company locally and we primarily employ local consultants. We were the first to enforce a communal land lease agreement, in which, in addition to site-specific rent payments, we pay rent for the entire wind farm area to landowners. You can read more about the benefits of wind power for the municipality and landowners and minimizing the disadvantages of wind power construction on our own website.

The permitting process for special transports of wind turbine parts is congested
The transport of parts for wind turbines has exploded, according to Yle's article. This contributes to the congestion of special transport permit applications, where there are currently 270 applications in the queue and the processing time has been extended to 10 days. However, the transportation of parts of the wind farm will not suffer from the lengthening of the permitting process. Most special transports related to wind power construction depart from the ports of Raahe and Kokkola. Read more about the wind farm permitting process here.

Municipal climate emissions also decreased last year
The increase in wind power and the shift towards renewable fuels in district heating production have contributed to the reduction of municipal climate emissions. Municipal greenhouse gas emissions decreased last year by 7.4% from the previous year. The corona pandemic and warm weather also play a role in reducing emissions, for example, emissions from road traffic decreased in almost all Finnish municipalities. Check the situation in your municipality in an article from Suomen YLE!

Myths of wind power
Have you wondered about the most common myths in the wind power industry, like building a wind power plant consumes more energy than it ever produces? Will only foreign investors benefit from wind power? The Finnish Wind Power Association (STY) is a wind power industry advocacy organization founded in 1988. The association actively shares information about the industry, its operations and development. There is a lot of factual information about wind power on the association's website, as well as the “Ride on the Myth” section, where we break…

Why choose wind power?
Wind power is a local business that enables low-cost and nationwide decentralized energy production. Local energy production also ensures energy self-sufficiency: it is a clean and affordable form of energy production. By producing energy locally, we ensure Finland's energy self-sufficiency and at the same time reduce its dependence on imported energy. In addition to its cleanliness and renewable values, wind power is currently the most affordable, sustainable form of energy production. The impact of wind power investments and the property taxes they generate on the municipal economy are…

Häme wind power study: Many municipal officials consider the benefits of wind power to be greater than the disadvantages
According to a study by the Häme ELY Center, there is often opposition from residents on the road to building wind power. The study collected the views of Kanta-Häme and Päijät-Häme municipal officials, trustees and non-governmental organizations on wind power. There were 57 responses, the majority from municipal officials. The majority of respondents (64%) considered the benefits of wind power to outweigh its disadvantages. 15 respondents pointed out that if wind power projects are not to be started in Häme, there is a probable reason…

A vision for the future for the waters: electricity, gas and wind
The Finnish Broadcasting Corporation (YLE) published an article on the future of boating “Boating is also moving to hybrids and electric motors, although there will be no emission limits - internal combustion engine bans already exist in many countries” 16.7. In addition to the automotive sector, electricity, gas and wind are also expected to be more important energy sources than fossil fuels in the future. Gas and hybrid engines have already risen alongside internal combustion engines in larger boats, while electric engines in smaller boats have…

There are areas in western Finland suitable for wind power construction
The Government has published a new report on the promotion of wind power construction in Finland. According to the study, no new solutions have been found for south-eastern Finland and the Gulf of Finland sea area to enable wind power construction, which will thus concentrate wind power construction in western Finland. In addition to external factors guiding the construction of wind power, such as regional control, the location of wind power construction is also affected by technical and economic factors and the rapid development of wind power technology.
