The offshore wind power project is progressing
The project of 160 wind turbines planned for the sea area at the height of Oulu is progressing towards an environmental impact assessment. The wind power company OX2 Finland has submitted the evaluation program to the authorities and on 8.9. A public event will be organized in Raahe about the project's plans. The height of the power plants in the sea area would be 370 meters and the unit power would be 25 MW. Read more about the Halla project here in the news of Suomen Yleisradio (YLE)!

The price of electricity will decrease with the help of renewable forms of production
The green transition makes electricity affordable, but electricity transmission requires large investments. When the production and consumption of electricity fluctuates suddenly, the production power must increase more than the consumption, so that there is enough power even during peak consumption. Integrating energy systems even more tightly together will require approx. 40 million investments over the next decades. Read here in Insinöör magazine what investments are needed in the sector and how the promotion of wind power affects the price of electricity...

All energy can be produced renewable already before 2050, according to university research
LUT University operating in Lappeenranta and Lahti and 14 other international universities are proposing a new kind of energy system based on solar and wind power, energy storage, sector integration and direct and indirect electrification. Hundreds of scientific studies prove that a 100% renewable energy system could be achieved by 2050 worldwide, at least according to LUT University. Read here in Länsi-Uusimaa magazine more about the revolutionary energy system!

Summer wind conditions favor installation work in the Mutkalammi wind power area
In the Kalajoki and Kannus area, another 60-70 employees are working on commissioning the power plants, all 69 power plants in the area are now up and running. Heavy special transports have also arrived quickly and went better than expected. The wind turbines will be able to produce electricity with a power of 404 megawatts after the commissioning phase, during the rest of the year. When completed, the park will be Finland's largest onshore wind farm. Read more about Mutkalamme from Suomen Yleisradio (YLE) news here...

The production of offshore wind power is increasing in Finland
In an article by Suomen Yleisradio (YLE), Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Antti Kurvinen says that the expansion permits for offshore wind farms leased by Metsähallitus are an important milestone in increasing domestic renewable energy. Metsähallitus was given permission to lease more water areas in Tahkoluoto in Pori and Korsnäs in Ostrobothnia. The Körsnäs offshore wind power project is a major renewable energy project in Finland and the first offshore wind farm designed for Finnish territorial waters. Read more about the project!

Wind power is being built in Finland faster than ever before, but not enough
Finland's wind power capacity has increased during this year by 24% compared to the end of last year. Finland's goal is to be carbon neutral in 2035 and the EU's by 2050, so an even faster pace of construction is needed to build wind power and achieve the goals. The pursuit of energy self-sufficiency also brings new permanent jobs and financial benefits to the regions. Read more in the MTV Uutisten article!

Wind power is being built at a record pace, municipalities also benefit by investing in training in the field
In the first half of 2022, 154 new power plants have already been built, the construction of wind power is going faster than before! Even more power plants are expected to be completed in the second half of the year. The wind power industry permanently employs e.g. experts in service and maintenance, important areas in the training include e.g. occupational safety, mechanical maintenance, hydraulics and electrical basics. Read more about the employment effect of wind power here!

Stricter sound control values have been set for wind power than for other societal functions
Suomen Tuulivoimayhdistys published a bulletin on where wind turbines can be built according to Finnish legislation. Due to official guidelines, wind turbines cannot be built at a distance of less than 300 meters from highways, and construction is only allowed at a distance from settlements. Wind turbines also do not affect the selling prices of apartments, as the distance between the properties and the wind turbines is large. Read more about the announcement here!

This year, the limit values for 1,000 wind farms and 5,000 megawatts will be reached in Finland
Global Wind Day was celebrated on Wednesday 15 June. Wind power is growing here and around the world - but even more growth is needed. In 2025, wind power will cover more than a quarter of the electricity consumed in Finland. The message of Global Wind Day must still be stated that climate goals and energy self-sufficiency require a higher growth rate. Wind power covered less than one percent of the electricity consumed in Finland for less than ten years...

Economic research and FCG: Wind farms do not affect residential property prices
The first study conducted in Finland shows that wind turbines have had no effect on residential real estate prices. Commissioned by the Finnish Tuulivoimayhdis and conducted by the Finnish Consulting Group (FCG) and Taloustuikma, municipalities were selected from different parts of Finland where wind power has been built between 2012 and 2021.
