Dismantling of met masts in progress in both Raahe and Sodankylä
Wind measurements at Mastokangas and Palkisvaara-Kannusvaara have been completed
In recent years, the wind triangle has mapped wind values in the Raahe and Sodankylä project areas using measuring masts for wind measurement. Weather meters placed at different heights on the mast have recorded, among other things, wind direction and speed, humidity, temperature and other weather information relevant to wind power construction. The measurements have been used to determine the best possible locations for wind turbines and to estimate the electricity production of the planned wind farm in advance.
Both Raahe and Sodankylä are now at a stage where information relevant to the design of the wind farm has been collected, and it is time to move the masts to a well-deserved break. In Raahe, the mast was dismantled at the turn of September - October, and in Sodankylä the demolition of the masts is progressing during October. The masts are dismantled and transported to a warehouse where they are serviced and packed for the winter to await transfer to the next measurement sites. In the Mastokangas and Palkisvaara-Kannusvaara project areas, wind measurement will continue again when the wind farms are completed.
