This year, the limit values for 1,000 wind farms and 5,000 megawatts will be reached in Finland
Global Wind Day was celebrated on Wednesday 15 June. Wind power is growing here and around the world - but even more growth is needed. In 2025, wind power will cover more than a quarter of the electricity consumed in Finland. The message of Global Wind Day must still be stated that climate goals and energy self-sufficiency require a higher growth rate.
Wind power covered less than one percent of the electricity consumed in Finland just less than ten years ago, now about 10 percent and already in 2025 at least 27 percent. Compared to the number of projects currently planned, it can be estimated that this year the milestones of one thousand power plants and 5,000 megawatts will be reached, but there is room for growth. Read on from here more about the growth of wind power.
